GENERAL

What cars can I bring into my country?
Every countries vehicle import laws are different please consult with you local department of transport for information on vehicle eligibility in your country. We will not bear responsibility for cars purchased that are not eligible to import.

Do you comply the vehicles too my countries regulations?
The responsibility to comply and register the car is entirely up to the buyer. Customs, tax, duty, registration is also entirely the buyer’s responsibility so please make sure you are familiar with all the regulations governing car importing into your country

How much do cars cost?
Every vehicle is different! Average sale price data is provided on the vehicle full details page. If you can't find sufficient information then please send us an estimate request.

Do you offer a Trade-In service?
Sorry no, we do not offer a trade-in service.

Can you source me a Motorbike?
Unfortunately we are unable to assist you with this service as we only source cars to order.

Can you adjust the kilometers back on my car after purchase?
NO! Please don't embarrass yourself by asking.

What should I do to place an order?
Register and obtain a member login then all you have to do is find the car you are looking for and click on the bid button.

Can you source a specific car for me?
We can source almost any vehicle to order please fill in the wish list form and vehicles matching your description will be emailed direct into your inbox daily.

Can you find for me left hand drive Japanese cars?
We can’t source Japanese cars in LHD. However we have access to a wide variety of LHD European and American vehicles.

Can you supply parts or convert vehicles from right to left hand drive?
We don’t supply parts or convert vehicles to left hand drive. Please contact your local conversion specialist for conversion information and prices.

How can I see the prices in my currency?
When you create a user account there is an option to view prices in your currency.

I would like to know the correct date and time in Japan.
Every page has the date and time on the top right had corner of the page

REGISTERING

How do I become a member?
To become a member on the Import Jap Cars website you must click on the Registration link which is located on the right hand upper corner of our main page. Please fill in all the required fields and ensure that all your information is current and correct.

I forgot my login and password and can’t log in.
Please click on the "forgot my password" link on the top right corner of the main page and follow the instructions.

I have entered my username and password correctly, but I still can’t log in.
Please ensure that your browser supports cookies. As our website uses sessions you will need to make sure that you have enabled them in your browser settings. To enable your cookies please read the following instructions.

What if I don't have an email address?
You can obtain a free email address from either a yahoo or gmail service. If you don’t have access to the internet and would like to purchase a vehicle please contact us via telephone or fax and we will be happy to help.

PAYMENTS

How much is the deposit?
The deposit is 150,000 Japanese Yen and can be made either by Telegraphic Transfer or by PayPal.

Does the deposit come off the total costs or is it non-refundable?
We require that you keep a positive balance of 150,000 yen in your account to continue purchasing. If you only wish to purchase 1vehicle with Import Jap Cars we will then deduct this amount from your final purchase.

Is a larger deposit required if more than one vehicle is required initially?
No. You can purchase as many vehicles as you can pay for. The initial deposit is just a goodwill measure to sort out the serious buyers from the web surfers.

What are the terms of payment?
All purchases must be paid 100% in advance.

Can I pay by check, credit card or letter of credit?
We don’t accept payment by check or letter of credit. We accept payment by Bank Transfer (Telegraphic Transfer, Wire Transfer) and Credit Card via PayPal (Note. There is a 5% surcharge added to all credit card transactions).

Do you provide finance?
We are a vehicle exporter and don’t provide finance please check with a local finance broker for finance solutions.

What is your refund policy?
A full refund minus a small cancellation fee is offered at any time up until a vehicle has either been bought at auction based on instructions from the customer. A cancellation fee of 30,000 Japanese Yen is required to cover time and expenses incurred in the search up to the point of cancellation.

When are the auctions?
Currently we have auctions from Monday to Saturday. All auctions start and finish on the same day they are held.

Where are the auctions located?
The auctions are located Japan wide and are run on different days. To view all Japanese auction locations please click on the photo below.

Can I buy cars at the starting price?
The starting price gives no indication of what the vehicle will sell for! Cars that start at 150,000 may sell for 600,000 yen. Average sale price data is provided on the vehicle full details page. If you can’t find sufficient information on the vehicle of interest then please send us an estimate request.

Do you charge for unsuccessful bids?
There is no charge for unsuccessful bids

How do you read an auction sheet?
We have provided a translated copy of an auction sheet below. This explains how to read an auction sheet.

SHIPPING

Do you arrange shipping?
We arrange all shipping and do the necessary paperwork for our clients as part of our service.

How fast can you ship my car?
We can start arranging shipping the same day we receive the full payment for your vehicle. Ocean freight time will depend on your shipping destination and will vary from several days to several months.

Is the shipping cost included in your price?
All vehicles are quoted in FOB and don’t include shipping costs.

How much is the freight cost to my port?
All freight costs vary, Please calculate the freight cost from our freight calculator system. Please note this is for your reference purpose only. You will get the precise freight cost on our official invoice.

I would like to insure my shipment in transit.
Insurance is not included in the cost of shipping, but if you inform us during the order process we can get insurance for you at an extra charge.

How many cars can you fit in a 20FT and 40FT container?
We can fit quite a lot of different combinations but usually 2 medium sized vehicles in a 20FT container and 4 medium sized vehicles in a 40FT container.

What shipping documents will I receive?

d) English translation of De-registration Certificate

Do you offer a warranty?
We offer a service to assist you to import your own vehicle, which provides the opportunity for significant cost savings. Accordingly, there is no warranty.

GLOSSERY AND TERMS

FOB (Free On Board/ Freight On Board)
This term only includes the following:
A. Price of the vehicle
B. Japan-side procedure costs (in-land transportation, customs &
shipping procedure, documentation and our fee)
With FOB the customer is responsible for payment of the ocean freight at the destination. Whether a car is C&F or FOB depends on the shipping line & destination ports. We have no control over this. In the end all it determines is where the freight is paid.

C&F (Cost/Freight)
This term contains the following:
A. Price of the Vehicle
B. Japan-side procedure costs (in-land transportation, customs &
shipping procedure, documentation and our fee)
C. Ocean freight pre-paid at the Japan end (this is the same cost shipping companies quote)

CIF (Cost Insurance Freight)
The same as C&F but includes shipping insurance
Invoice
Represents a complete record of the transaction between exporter and importer with regard to the goods sold. Also reports the content of the shipment and serves as the basis for all other documents about the shipment.

Bill of Lading (B/L)
A document that establishes the terms of a contract between a shipper and a transportation company. It serves as a document of title, a contract of carriage and a receipt for goods
Consignee
A person or company to whom commodities are shipped.
